  • Main Characters and description
1. Joy- Biggest goal is to make sure Riley stays happy. She is light-hearted, optimistic and determined to find the fun in every situation. As long as Riley is happy, so is Joy.

2. Fear- Main job is to protect Riley and keep her safe. There are very few activities and events that Fear does not find to be dangerous and possibly fatal.
3. Anger- Feels very passionately about making sure things are fair for Riley. He is quick to overreact and has little patience for life’s imperfections.
4. Disgust- Highly opinionated, extremely honest and prevents Riley from getting poisoned - both physically and socially. She always keeps a careful eye on the people
5. Sadness- None of the other Emotions really understands what Sadness' role is. Sadness would love to be more optimistic and helpful in keeping Riley happy, but she finds it so hard to be positive.
  • Synopsis or Summary of the movie
The summary of the movie is about a young girl named Riley, who likes to play hockey, an 11 year old Midwestern, but her world went a little crazy when she and her parents moved to San Francisco. Riley has 5 emotions Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. When Sadness touches any of the core memory of Riley, it would be a sad memory forever. So Joy did the best she could do to make sure that Sadness never touches any of Riley’s core memory. Riley’s emotions led by Joy guided her through this challenging, life changing of event. However, the movie brings in Sadness whom by the way is the stress of the movie. When Joy and Sadness were swept into the far reaches of Riley’s mind, the only emotions left in the Headquarters are Anger, Fear and Disgust. Anger was in charge when Joy and Sadness were finding its way back to the headquarters. This was leading to a bad course. In the end the two emotions made it back to the headquarters and made Riley do good things again.

  • Movie Review and Critique
A. The human person was being controlled by 5 emotions. It portrayed that no matter what happen we always need emotions.
B. The three elements that were shown in the movie are Spiritual, Mental and Physical. Spiritual- When Riley gets angry easily. Mental – When Riley stole the credit card of her mother, when Riley decided to abandon everything that makes her happy, now that’s mental for me. Physical-  When Riley is always angry.
C. The question is what happens to the human body when one of the emotions is missing. The time when Joy and Sadness were swept into the far reaches of Riley's mind. Riley is always angry and her parents don't know why.
D. The character that I can relate to the most is Joy, because even if something bad happen to my life I just keep on smiling because I know that something good is about to happen to my life.
E. The insights that I’ve gain from watching the movie is to keep on smiling no matter what happen. Don’t be angry at all times. Make sure that there is always teamwork. These insights would teach me that I should always study my notes so that I can keep on smiling no matter what so that I won’t fail this course. I should always be fair because being fair is a good habit. These insights would guide me to not to cheat, to be fair and to be a responsible student in the course Philosophy.
